Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this organic?

    • No. Our produce is hydroponically grown in our greenhouses. Our main form of pest control is biologicals, where we introduce good bugs to eat the bad bugs. We will spray if absolutely necessary, but do not r-esort to that as our first form of control.

  • Where are you located?

    • Both greenhouses are located just west of Lacombe, near Gull Lake, within 15 km of each other.

  • How fresh are these veggies?

    • All veggies are harvested within days of the market.

  • What do the Long red peppers taste like...are they hot?

    • The long red peppers (ramiros) are very sweet. They have thinner flesh than a bell pepper, fewer seeds, and are sweeter than a bell pepper. Not hot.

  • Which is your hottest pepper?

    • We sell three kinds of hot peppers. The red one is a cayenne, a 4-5 on a scale of 10. The green one is a Jalapeno, a 6-8 on a scale of 10 (they'll find our Jalapenos to be considerably hotter than the ones found in a grocery store). The orange one is a habanero, close to a 10 on a scale of 10.

  • What's the difference in flavour between the dark and the striped eggplant?

    • The striped eggplant is a little bit sweeter, has fewer seeds, and cooks up more tender than the dark eggplant.
